Understanding and Editing Your Service Area – Select

Find answers to the most commonly asked questions about the Service Area for your Campaigns.

SeparatorLineWhy do I need to confirm my Service Area before my Select Custom Search Campaigns are live?

Because our advertising strategy is hyperlocal, we need you to confirm how far you are willing to travel to help a potential new customer. You can confirm your Service Area during Account Activation by using the interactive, clickable map to pick the Zip/Postal Codes you want to service. Once you confirm this information by completing Campaign Setup, our Market Research Team can begin to research the anchor cities most likely to convert to feature for your Campaigns.

SeparatorLineWhy don't I have a Select Custom Search Campaign for every city in my Service Area?

Our goal is to deliver the most quality Leads to you at the lowest cost. To do this we use years of search data to help us identify key areas that perform well in your target Service Category. Though not every single city in your area will be selected as an anchor for your Select Custom Search Campaign, rest assured our Ads are targeting every area within the boundaries of the Service Area Map.

The URLs for your Select Custom Search Campaigns are chosen based on your confirmed Service Area. If you would like to expand or shrink your Service Area, you will need to get in touch with our Support Team to make sure the current Microsites are still reflecting this area correctly. We will then work with our Market Research Team to see if we need to remove or add Campaigns to target additional anchors.

Note: Select Campaigns do not enable you to adjust the Service Area Zip Codes yourself due to their complexity. Creating new Select Campaigns may have additional charges.

Note: Adjusting your Marketplace Service Area only applies to the individual Campaign you edited. To adjust the Service Area map on other Marketplace Campaigns be sure to update them as well or use the Bulk Edit feature to apply the same edits to all your Campaigns at once.

Click the “Edit” link at the top right of the Service Area Zips section in each Campaign Row to open the edit popup.

Option 1 – Manually Add a Large Amount of Zip Codes via Upload or Paste

  • This option allows you to Upload a CSV file or paste your Zips directly and can be used for any number of Zips.
  • After the upload or paste, you'll see a confirmation of what our system has processed.
    • If some of the uploaded/pasted Zips are incompatible with our database, then we'll show those as having errors and they will not be saved to your Service Area. You can click the "view errors" link to see which Zips those are.
    • We also display the total number of Zips that successfully match our database as well as list them in a comma separated list that you can expand to view all.
  • You'll also see two radio button choices:
    • "Replace all existing Zips with just the newly added ones" means all of your Campaign's existing Service Area Zips will be removed and completely replaced with your new upload/paste.
    • "Keep all existing Zips and add any new ones to them" means all of your Campaign's existing Service Area Zips will be kept as-is and any new ones found in your upload/paste will be added to that existing Service Area.
  • Be sure to click the "Save Service Area" Button at the bottom to save edits.
  • Please note that Option 2  is disabled when you're using Option 1 so we prevent data conflicts.

Option 2 – Select Zips on the Map Tool (limit 500 Zips)

  • Please note that the Map Tool is limited to less than 500 Zip Codes. If you'd like to add more than 500 Zips, please use Option 1 instead.
  • The Map's Zip/Postal Code shapes allow you to hover over them to see their code number.
  • Click on the Zip/Postal Code shapes to Add or Remove them. The grey highlighting indicates they are selected.
  • You also see a list of the selected Zip/Postal Codes below the Map.
    • You can individually remove any Zips from this list using the "x" next to each Zip.
    • You can individually add any Zips by manually typing them into the box at the bottom of the Zips list.
  • Be sure to click the "Save Service Area" Button at the bottom to save edits.
  • Please note that Option 1  is disabled when you're using Option 2 so we prevent data conflicts.

  • If you'd like to totally redo your Service Area from scratch, you may click the "Clear All Zip Codes and Start Over" link at the bottom left of the popup. If you accidentally clicked this, be sure NOT to Save and instead cancel out of the popup via the top-right "X" button or the "Cancel" link next to the Save button.
  • If you do wish to clear all and continue, you will be able start fresh and use either Option 1 Upload / Paste or Option 2 Select on Map.

SeparatorLineWhat if I get Leads outside of my Service Area?

We work hard to make sure we are only targeting potential new customers in your confirmed Service Area. However, in rare cases, you may receive irrelevant Calls or Calls from Searchers outside of your area. When this happens, Submit a Support Request and our team will work with you to find the best way to lock down targeting in the agreed upon area.
